Measurements of the fork tube length
Measurements of the fork tube length are based on the standard length
of Harley-Davidson® FL
and FLH types. Because of differences between in the range of Harley®
models - and construction years - the length has to be measured from the
lower side of the top triple tree to heart axle wheel. For example: a
SJP® front fork with zero rake and 2” over stock length fits
a Softail® standard. >>
When you choose a front fork with a certain kind of length and rake you
have to consider what it
means to your driving conditions. Trail is the most important fact for
handling your bike properly. | Offset upper tree: Distance between centerline steering neck and centerline fork tubes. Rake steering head: The angle in degrees of the steering neck from the vertical. Rake triple tree: The angle in degrees in the triple tree of the front fork from the vertical. Fork length: The distance between bottom of the upper tree and centerline wheel axle. Height steering neck: The distance between top of the steering neck to ground. Wheel base: Centerline front- and rear wheel axle. Diameter front wheel: The distance between top of tyre and the ground Trail: The distance between centerline wheel axle (including tire) and the ground.
